Hello and welcome to my blog! I have
been surfing the “interwebs” for many years, but this is my first time running
a blog. Any and all feedback is welcome.
My blog will be focused around the
ever-growing geek culture and its many different facets. I have only recently
found interest in the community of the culture due to my involvement with
Youtube, which exposed me to the gamer side of the community. Although it is
one of the most diverse and passionate cultures in society, it faces many
challenges with itself and the negative stereotypes society has given us.
Gamers are called violent because of the games we play. Geeks are perceived as
forty-year-old virgins living in their parents’ basements. Nerds are
stereotyped as people who wear black-rimmed glasses and are superb at math, but
are hopelessly antisocial. The list goes on. The majority of the geek culture
is not like these things however, and that’s why I’m interested in blogging
about it.
The geek culture is woefully
underrepresented in most of today’s media. Be it TV, movies or even games
themselves sometimes. I know I’ll probably never see the culture or the
community be respected for what it really is (individuals, groups, and
subcultures of people who are passionate about something they love), the least
I can do is help wherever I can to show we are not as weird as society says we
are.
Thanks for taking the time to read.
this narrative was an excellent one. I had no idea this was in a game until the end. I found no errors at all. maybe i was trying to hold in my fear of the dark? I was on edge the entire story and enjoyed it emensely.
